Q: When did Federer begin thinking of a career in tennis?

A: When Federer was young he dreamed of being a pro sports player, but that didn’t become a chance of reality until he was about eleven he was named one of the top three junior players in all of Switzerland. This was a start, so he began training seriously and more often. When he wasn’t at school he was running, hitting, playing, and winning. He started winning tournaments. He stated at to his parents that his aim was to be a pro tennis player, which they supported him unconditionally. When Federer was 16 he earned his first sponsorship deal. He kept playing and training and wining until at 18 he competed in the Junior Tennis Bowl, which he won, before wrapping up his Juniors career with a win at the Junior Wimbledon title. This then earned him a spot in the pros tour, and that is where he has stayed to this day.

Q: Where does his family originate from?

A: Federer was born in Basel, Switzerland to Lynette and Robert Federer and older sister Diana. His              father was born in German-        Switzerland on the 18th of June, 1946 after World War II. He is                        currently at the age of 75. Robert served as an executive at a pharmaceutical firm. Lynette was                        working also on the same firm and they both met on a business trip. Lynette was a native South African who moved to Switzerland around the 1950s-60s and has stayed there since. She was born on the 16th February, 1962 and is currently 69 years of age. Federer has two sets of twins, the older pair both being girls at the age of 12, and the other pair being two boys at the age of 7. The mother of those twins his wife, Mirka Federer is also a pro tennis player. They both were wedded in 2009. Mirka was born in 1978 and is currently 43 years old.

Q: Who has been Federer's greatest rival over his career?

A:  Federer has had a lengthy career and has faced hundreds of not thousands of opponents. But who has stood out over all of them? This Era in tennis has been the greatest so far. With names like Novak Djokovic, Zerena Williams, Ash Barty, and Medvedev. But the greatest rivalry Federer has, if not the greatest tennis has, is Rafael Nadal. The two have pushed each other to greater heights. Where Federer is dominant on grass, Nadal is dominant on clay. Overall they have played 40 games against each other. Overall, half of those matches have been played on hard court, with an 11-9 margin to Federer. 4 of these games have been played on grass with Federer leading 3-1. 16 of these games have been on clay, and Nadal has dominated 14-2 deficit. And a whopping 24 of these games have been played in finals, in which Nadal has won 14-10. But overall across all matches played head to head, Nadal has won 24 and Federer 14. But you could both call them equal because of the amount of games played on clay (16) to grass (4). This rivalry could have been a lot different statistically if there had been more games on grass, Federer's hotspot, rather than clay. This is the greatest rivalry in tennis history, the Federer-Nadal.

Q: What sports did Roger Federer play as a child?

A: As a child growing up in Australia and in a family that enjoys sport, I have played a fair amount of sport and enjoyed it. This is almost the same for Federer, but he was born in German Switzerland, and the range of sports are pretty different compared to Australia. I have played Rugby, cricket, AFL, and a bunch of other sports that are played commonly by Australians. Whereas the Swiss population adore the sport football, with 10,000+ club games played on each weekend. Unlike Australia, skiing is commonly used by about half the population. And lastly, tennis. This is played by a massive chunk of the population. With big names in tennis these days, like Roger Federer and Martina Higgins, tennis for not only kids, but adults is thriving for the main part of the new century. These are the main sports Roger Federer played in his youth and these sports, along with a few other sports that made him the athlete who he is today. I have no doubt at all that he faced challenges on the way, but he pushed through them with determination and courage. But even so, he appeared a pretty talented little fella at tennis. But with training, focus and dedication he became the star he is now.

Q: Why did I chose Roger Federer as my notable?

A: Roger Federer is my notable person and hence, the reason I am doing this entire project. Roger Federer is an extremely famous tennis player, one of the greatest of all time. But he is also one of the utmost generous sportsmen in the world. He has donated whopping amounts of money, like at the end of 2018 he donated over fifty million dollars to charity. In 2004 Roger Federer created the Roger Federer Foundation, which aims to shape a better future for children living in an unprivileged lifestyle. Both countries it aims to help are South Africa and Switzerland. It helps these children with the power of education. In South Africa alone it is a known fact that it takes care of over one million children's education. This is over 1/60 of the population of South Africa alone. But in terms of children, one in every 18 child is being helped by the Roger Federer foundation to help shape a better future. He has been named the second most trusted person in South African history (First was Nelson Mandela, so that’s pretty crazy he came second). He has earned whopping amounts of money from the game tennis, but almost half of it is deposited to charity. Roger Federer is known to be a happy, down to earth guy. Not once has he ever made a bad decision in public. With a glowing smile that everyone adores off the court, to the flame in his eyes on the court, Federer is loved and well known worldwide. That is why he is my notable. Thank you for listening to these answers to the questions.
